Wetlands Council

RSA 21-O:5-a establishes a Wetlands Council consisting of fourteen members representing the public and certain state agencies.

Duties of the Wetlands Council include:

  • To consult with and advise the Commissioner of the Department of Environmental Services with respect to policy, programs, goals, and operations of the Department as they relate to wetlands and the Shoreland Water Quality Protection Act with particular emphasis on long-range planning and public education.
  • To hear and decide administrative appeals from Department decisions relative to the functions and responsibilities of the Department relative to wetlands and the Shoreland Water Quality Protection Act.
  • To review all proposed rules relative to wetlands and the Shoreland Water Quality Protection Act.
  • To approve disbursements of the aquatic resource compensatory mitigation fund established under RSA 485-A:29.
